Pole Star Epochs: From the Dragon to the Bear

CAELi Review Journal

I am pleased to share with you a link to the first issue of a new journal The CAELi Review, published by CAELi, the Celestial Arts and Education Library. CAELi is a member-supported astrological library, archive and research institute located in the Olympia, WA area and founded by astrologer and publisher Jenn Zahrt.  CAELi has made the generous decision to make the digital copy of the journal’s first issue available to the public, whether you are a paying member of the library or not. Please check out their site for information on becoming a member, so you can receive future copies of the journal and also access their other resources.

You can access a free digital copy at the journal’s publisher, Revelore Press by clicking this link.

I wrote an article for the journal entitled Pole Star Epochs: From the Dragon to the Bear. It’s based upon a fascinating concept I became interested in last year – thinking of ages of time in relation to the star serving as a pole star. Consider this: we are at an incredibly unique time in the entire 26,000 years of axial precession due to having a pole star close to the exact position of the northern celestial pole. Within this 26,000 year cycle, there are only two stars that become close to being exactly on the northern celestial pole. One is Thuban in Draco the Dragon, which had this status from approximately 3942 to 1793 BC when the Great Pyramids of Egypt were built. The other is Polaris, our current pole star. In fact, Polaris will be getting closer and closer to the northern celestial pole over the course of the next century, reaching its closest proximity to the pole around 2100 CE. And so there is something about this Pole Star Era of Polaris that will be intensifying in the century ahead.

I’d like to thank the Editor in Chief of the journal, astrologer Cameron Cassidy , for inviting me to write this article for the CAELi Review. I hope you enjoy my article and the rest of the journal!
