1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time

I recently announced I will be teaching a workshop for Nightlight Astrology called “Planets in Fall and the Spirit of the Depths” on Saturday, May 16. I will still be teaching on May 16, but the time has been moved to 1 pm Eastern standard time and 10 am Pacific standard time instead of the previously scheduled time that was at 12 pm EST.

Description: “The Greek term for a planet being in its fall has been translated as a low lying place, like being brought down into a depression in the ground. Planets in fall have also been associated with states of depression and depressing circumstances, in contrast to the ideal heights associated with planets in exaltation. We will explore the essential balance between planets in fall and exaltation, what it means to be born with a planet in fall in your natal chart, and imagine together how to work with the descent into depths we can experience with a planet in fall. What wisdom and self realization can we gather from the dark places that planets in fall bring us to?”

DAIMON: GUIDING SPIRIT OF THE NATIVITY

Sunday 29 October 2017

1:00 – 5:00 PM

Portland School of Astrology

I’m excited to announce I will be co-teaching an interactive workshop with June Rose Trimbach on the Daimon in astrology at the Portland School of Astrology on October 29.  In this class we will be working with the Greek idea of a Daimon, which was incorporated into Hellenistic astrology by Porphyry in the late 3rd Century. There is text from the ancient philosopher Heraclitus that has been translated as “Character for a human is his Daimon,” in addition to also being translated as “Character is destiny,” “A man’s character is his fate,” “A man’s individuality is his daimon,” and “A man’s character is the immortal and potentially divine part of him.”  Using Dorian Greenbaum’s thesis  as guide, we will explore the Daimon as a philosophical and spiritual concept. Then we will learn Porphyry’s technique to locate the Daimon as a guiding planet in the natal chart of an individual. We will all be working intimately with our own charts to find who this planet is and get to know them better, including through guided meditation. Using the imagery or feelings we receive from this experience, we will create devotional art pieces to enhance our connection with our personal Daimons.

While the technical astrology of the workshop is well-suited for intermediate and advanced students, novices and beginners will be helped along to locate their guardian planet and the rest of the class will be intuition. Please bring a copy of your natal chart to class.  Art supplies will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own additional art supplies they will want to use.

Friday 15 September 2017

Saturday 16 September 2017

If you are in the Portland, Oregon area, on the weekend of September 15th and 16th I will be presenting a talk and workshop for the Oregon Astrology Association about relationships and astrology. On Friday 15 September I will be giving a talk on relational astrology in general, and then on Saturday 16 September I will be giving a workshop focused upon understanding evolving relational dynamics through the secondary progressed chart.

Our Astrological Narratives in Relationship

  • Friday, September 15, 2017
  • 7:00 – 9:30pm
  • $10 for OAA members, $15 for non-members

Understanding relationship dynamics is one of the primary reasons people delve deeper into astrology. Whether we desire to heal our own relationships or want to help clients gain insight into their relationships, a fundamental skill is discerning the relational narratives found in the natal chart. Once we become aware of the relationship story found in our birth chart, we arrive at a deeper understanding for why patterns continue to resurface in relationships and why certain types of partners appear in our lives. In this talk Gray Crawford will share methods for how to distill the diverse elements of astrology charts into a coherent relationship story that reveals why we have been engaging in the types of relationships we have been, as well as how our astrological narrative continues to evolve as our relationships change. This talk will also reflect upon how to effectively use synastry and composite techniques in astrology.

Opening to the Other – Relationships in Progression

  • Saturday, September 16, 2017
  • 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
  • $40 for OAA members, $60 non-members

The secondary progressed chart is a powerful astrology technique that penetrates into the evolving quality of the natal chart across time. We know that as time passes so do our desires for relationship transform. This workshop will explore how changes in our secondary progressed chart reveal insight into how we are opening to the relationships of our life in new ways.  This workshop will both instruct as well as give space for participants to actively gain deeper understanding into how planets shifting signs and houses through progressions reflect the changes we experience in all of our diverse relationships.  We will also explore how the changes in the interpersonal dynamics within long-term relationships can be seen in the interplay between the changes in the progressed charts of each partner.

You can order tickets from the Oregon Astrological Association website
