Although primordial Night is revered in creation cosmologies as the source of light and generative forces, many of her offspring (such as Doom, Distress, Deception, and Strife) carry fearful associations. Saturn likewise signifies themes that can evoke fear, and traditional texts classify his malefic nature as more severe in night charts. Yet the relationship between Saturn and Night also reveals wisdom, endurance, and a deep initiation into the mysteries of Fate. Following a mythopoetic exploration of Night, we will examine how Saturn engages the many dimensions of Night in natal charts, including Saturn’s aspects to nocturnal planets and its placement in nocturnal signs.
